"Mom... I'm really not cute when I'm this furious!"

That's what my daughter texted me: "Mom.. I'm really not cute when I'm this furious!" She's right. She's not. I'm not either! Because honestly, who is? Woe, at the truth in that! Let’s just face it, furious is ugly! Ugly on the actions. Ugly in the feelings. And ugly for the face. She’s right in saying so. It’s not a good look!

Speaking of looks. One reason the look is so not cute is because of where the looker is looking. Furious focuses on what it’s angered at, what’s made it mad, what’s caused its fury. And furious continues its look at what it ought not to be focused on, instead of re-focusing its face on Jesus instead.

We're told to be angry and sin not. Though often we fail to heed to the command. We're often "angry and sin"!

""In your anger do not sin" : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry" (Eph 4:26). But in order to do that, angry must first change its look!

Watch what God told Cain about his mad in Genesis 4... "Why are angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."

A downcasted face is a face headed for disaster if not quickly re-fixed on the face of our Savior. For after all, God is the 'lifter of our heads' (Ps 3:3). If you can't manage to lift it yourself, ask Him to help you to lift it.

In Hebrews 12:1-3 the advice that we're given is,"...let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." If you don't (fix your eyes on Him) sin is crouching there at the door that you've opened. It desires to HAVE YOU. BUT YOU must master it! The best way to do it is to fix your eyes on His!

Where's your look? Who (or What) have you got your eyes "fixed" on? And most importantly, might you need to change it?
