I just got the text from Jon with...FYI.... Update!

I just got the text from Jon with his answer. He wrote:

The president changed his mind. The matter is dropped altogether. I praise God for delivering me, and I thank God that the president showed me compassion when he could have cut me off. He was very kind to me and said he had thought a lot about me as a person since our last talk. He concluded I could do a lot of good for the students and said I am the type of teacher they want at the school, even though we disagree on this important matter. He said he wouldn't ask that I not speak in chapel again because he doesn't want to hinder the good I might do. He said he hoped I would not be divisive and take potshots at him after the fact, and I assured him I would not do that. Please pray that God will continue to open our spiritual eyes so that we might see His marvelous works. I love you all.

_______________

I quickly and jubilantly and joyfully texted him back:

Woo! Praise God! I know that He was in the battle!! And I am anxious yet to see what we've not yet seen because the time has not yet come for Him to show us!! Lord God, I praise You for Your miracles! You still turn hearts of kings! You still peace storms. You still shut the mouths of lions. And You still deliver Your people from the blazing fires that hope to devour them.Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12005695519129502934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3521590477384744893.post-62289341073336484862012-03-06T19:08:50.592-06:002012-03-06T19:08:50.592-06:00Jon texted me a few minutes ago. Honestly I feel like God is standing up over this!!! Lord God, we're asking You TO DO something....

Me: My God is a God Who S-T-I-L-L performs miracles!!!!!

Jon: Yes!!! Mine is too! So if He does not deliver me in this, I will trust that He has something planned I don't know about.

Jon: I pray that God was glorified by my going into the fire, and I pray that He will be glorified if I am snatched out of the fire.

Me: Amen!!!@@@!!! I totally believe that with all of my heart! This isn't a fight to defend you at all, it's a fight to defend our God!!!

Me: Amen!!! Even before you sent those last two texts I was thinking and praying the very same thing.

Jon: That's true. I told my Dean and Dept Head earlier today that it would be a sad day for the school and for The Kingdom for me to get fired over proclaiming God is capable and WILLING to do more than we could ever ask or imagine at a Christian University.

Me: Woo! Powerfully said!!! And it'd be a scary thing to be the 'fire-er' (the one that fires you). God has got something HUGE planned in this!!!

Jon: Yes. I'd rather be the one getting fired. If I give glory to God for something good that He didn't do, what's the harm? God has been worshiped. But if I discredit something good He did do, then it is a denial of His power, if not blasphemy.

Me: True. So true. God's so much BIGGER than what we credit Him for. Before this is over, I do believe that this is going to be something even bigger than what we now see! I, for one, am in wonder!Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12005695519129502934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3521590477384744893.post-89794013418489355592012-03-06T18:53:23.434-06:002012-03-06T18:53:23.434-06:00Later Jon responded to my email:
Dear Sharon,
Th...Later Jon responded to my email:

Dear Sharon,

Thanks so much for taking the time to write. I love that story. I laid the letter before the Lord and prayed over it, asking God to see it and deal with it on the day I received it. I'll do that again tonight. I really appreciate your focus. That I am not the primary object of ridicule. I am a child of the king. No one can mock and abuse God's children without His taking notice.

I thank you and Tim for encouraging me today. I don't know how to pray for an outcome other than this: I want to clearly hear the Spirit's voice so that I will say what God wants me to say. And I want the Dean and the President to see Christ in me, whatever that would look like in this situation, whether it
is a picture of meekness or boldness.

Thanks for praying for me at 9 tomorrow.

I love you and Tim.

God give you joy!
Jon

________________________________________

Yesterday I wrote to Jon again:

I'm anxious to know how your meeting went. I prayed yesterday, before I went to bed, all through the night, this morning, the time of your meeting, and after. You (by more than just me) have been bathed in prayer.

This is not the same case scenario, but because of what I've been studying today and what I just read, I cannot help but love what's said! It's in James 5, verse 4, it says this, "Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty." Woo.. it's a scary thing when someone (especially multiple someones) are crying out against you! It's a scary thing when those cries have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty when you're the one they're crying against! I'll just say, some crying in the last couple of days has been cried out.... and I know that those cries have reached the ears of the Lord God Almighty that's heard them! I'm curious now about what He's going to do about them.

You said that you "laid the letter before the Lord and prayed over it, asking God to see it and to deal with it on the day you received it"...... You know, even when I typed those verses out to you I kept thinking that they sound so very much like you. It doesn't surprise me that this is already what you did. But perhaps it was God's sweet way of reminding you that He saw you as you were doing it?

You then told me that you appreciate my reminding you that you're not the primary object of ridicule, that you are a child of The King, and that no one can mock and abuse God's children without His taking notice. But Jon, it's not only that you are a child of The King! But also that the insults weren't really against you! It wasn't really you at all that they were insulting, Jon, it was God Himself! I can only wonder at His reaction to hear of the things that were said that He no longer does.

Jon, I pray that the dean and the president will hear and see (in you) Jesus Himself! Not only that, I'm praying that God will do what He's been confirming and reminding me of for years! It's a good time, Lord, to heal that girl of Yours and to show Your Glory in a way that words won't ever be able to!

I'm praying.... fervently! I keep reminding Him of what He said about Elijah, that "he was a man just like us".... The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective, it availeth much. I'm not praying for God to withhold the rain for 3 1/2 years as He did for Elijah, I'm praying that He will heal a girl and make her body whole, so that people will SEE the might of His hand!Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12005695519129502934noreply@blogger.com
